In our kids’ art studio, we use certain supplies again and again, not because they’re trendy, but because they’re truly joyful, kid-tested, and creativity-approved. Click the pictures below to check them out!

Supply Tips
BINGO DAUBERS:
Bingo daubers are one of the most underrated (and most loved!) art tools in the studio. With their bold, easy-to-squeeze sponge tips, kids can instantly make big colorful dots—no brushes or cups needed. They’re perfect for process art, dot painting, decorating posters, creating patterned backgrounds, or adding pops of color to mixed-media projects. Younger kids love the satisfying “stamp” they make, while older kids use them for more intentional designs like mandalas, abstract patterns, or even pointillism-style art. Quick, vibrant, and super fun, bingo daubers always spark creativity.
Dab-o-ink Daubers: We love to use bingo daubers in the studio for foil prints! You color with the bingo dauber on foil, spray with a bit of water, and then press a paper on it! It is so creative and colorful to make! To make foil prints- I suggest using the bigger bingo daubers by Dab-o-ink! <- Link here!
Shuttle Art Daubers: The smaller bingo daubers by are great for pattern making and younger kids. They are great for dotting names and using for counting. We also used these in our for our worms eye view project and for our art play lab. Smaller Bingo Dauber Link here!
OIL PASTELS:
Oil pastels are one of those supplies that make every kid feel like an artist. They’re soft, vibrant, and blend beautifully. We use them for everything: drawing, resist art, mixed media, and color experiments. Kids love the creamy feel, and I love how easy they are to use.
Pentel Arts Oil Pastels are my go-to brand to use with kids in the studio! You have so many color options! The key with oil pastels is layering to blend! I love using these for so many different projects in the studio!
KWICK STIX:
KWICK STIXS - If I could only choose one “no-mess” art supply, it would be these. Kwik Stixs glide on like a marker but dry with the bold, opaque look of paint. They dry in seconds (yes—seconds!), which makes them perfect for younger kids or quick after-school projects. Think instant color with zero cleanup stress.
KWICK STIX CUTIES: These are the same as the above but with a twist! Each Kwik Stix has a Kawaii-Inspired Personality! Just a little extra fun, creative energy!
LIQUID WATERCOLOR:
When we want BIG color, we reach for liquid watercolors. Colorations is the brand I love! They’re bright, fluid, and incredibly versatile. Kids can use them with brushes, droppers, spray bottles, or pipettes—so they’re amazing for process art and sensory-friendly painting. A little goes a long way, too. Salt is really fun to add and create texture in your art! Watercolor paper is the best to use for this application as it helps the water move on the papers before soaking in.
PAINT BRUSHES:
A variety pack of brushes is one of the easiest ways to elevate a child’s painting experience. We keep large flat brushes for big strokes, soft round brushes for watercolor, and detail brushes for finishing touches. Different brushes give kids different ways to explore their creativity.
ART PAPER:
Tru-Ray Sulfite Paper is the best for this! Simple, everyday art paper is the workhorse of the studio. We use it for drawing, gluing, stamping, collaging, paint tests- you name it. It’s always good to have a big stack handy for spontaneous creativity.
ARYLIC PAINT
For artists who want to paint on lots of surfaces, acrylics are the way to go. They work on cardboard, canvas, wood, and more. We love them for holiday crafts, layered paintings, and any project where kids want to make something more “keeper-worthy.” Apple Barrel is usually my favorite choice and it can be found on Amazon and at Walmart.
CARDBOARD CUTTER
OK- this thing is insanely cool! I did not know it existed until about 6 months ago! It cuts through cardboard so easily! I use this to cut up boxes to use for crafting later! It is amazing! It is like a mini saw that is easy to use & this is coming from the girl who is terrified of a table saw.
