🌸Beach Party! 🐚

Get ready for a sunshine-filled month of creativity!

Our May Art Session brings all the bright, playful energy of a beach party into the studio, with projects designed to build skills while letting each artist’s personality shine. 🌊✨

This month’s projects include:

🏖️Project 1: Beach Party Collage
After creating their own dynamic, painted background, students will design a full beach party scene bursting with personality. Using a mix of paint, paper, and air-dry clay, artists will create a variety of beachy essentials—think snacks, accessories, and seaside details—then assemble everything into a brightly colored, layered collage that truly pops.

🦩Project 2: Beach Floatie
Artists will pick their own beach floatie design and bring it to life through painting on a canvas! They’ll learn how to add realistic highlights and shadows to give their floatie dimension, then explore a fun technique to create shimmering water light reflections for that perfect sun-on-the-ocean effect.

🌊 Project 3: Surf’s Up Sunset Wave (Drew Brophy Inspired)
Inspired by the bold, flowing style of Drew Brophy, students will create a curling ocean wave set against a beautiful tropical sunset. Using tempera cakes, artists will blend vibrant colors to paint glowing skies and dynamic water movement, while focusing on brush control and color transitions to capture the energy and motion of the wave.

This session is inspired by our Beach Party summer camp last year! If you attended this camp you may see some of these projects for the second time.

Meet Mrs. Roebuck

meet mrs roebuck

I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember—ever since I could hold a crayon, creating has been part of who I am.

For the past 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching art to children at a local elementary school. But my love for art goes far beyond the classroom. I believe deeply in the magic of the creative process—the way experimenting with color, texture, and materials opens up imagination, builds confidence, and fosters meaningful connections.

Sunshine Art Studio has been a dream of mine for years—a place where kids and families in our community can come together to explore, play, and create freely. I’m passionate about providing a space where creativity is celebrated, messes are welcome, and the focus is on the experience of making art, not just the finished product.

At home, I’m a mom to two amazing teen boys. My husband, who’s a firefighter, and I have been married for 14 wonderful years. Our family knows firsthand how powerful it is to have a creative outlet, and I’m thrilled to be able to share that with others.

I can’t wait to welcome you into this creative space. Whether you're a young artist, a parent, or someone simply looking to tap into their creativity—we’re excited to meet you and make something amazing together!

Love, Mrs. Roebuck
