No Art Show for September Session!

This September, Teen Artist Studio is exploring the world of pet portraiture through a contemporary art lens!

Artists ages 12–17 will create a collection of original pet-inspired artwork while exploring different artistic styles and techniques.

Project 1: Artists will create a bold Pop Art Pet Portrait inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, using color, repetition, and a fun squeegee technique to create a striking finished piece.

Project 2: Artists will create a framed, pop art style, pet portrait of their favorite pet. * Artist/Family will need to email a picture of their pets prior to class for this project.

Project 3: To take their exploration even further, artists will learn felting techniques to create a layered, textured felted cat portrait. Using wool felt and a variety of materials, they’ll build their portrait piece by piece, focusing on texture, composition, and detail.

This month is all about exploring artistic style, learning new techniques, and creating artwork that feels uniquely their own.

About this class:

Ready to take your art to the next level?

Each month, we explore a new creative theme—but the theme is only the starting point. Artists will use it as inspiration to explore advanced techniques, artistic concepts, creative problem-solving, and personal expression.

This class is designed for teens who want more than simply following a project. Artists will learn to think like artists, make intentional creative choices, and develop artwork that reflects their own ideas and style.

Throughout the year, artists will dive deeper into the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, explore a variety of mediums and techniques, study artistic styles and inspiration, and learn how to develop an idea from the first sketch to a finished piece.

In Teen Artist Studio, artists will:

🎨 Develop stronger drawing, painting, and mixed-media skills
🖌️ Explore advanced Elements of Art & Principles of Design
💡 Learn how to develop and communicate their own ideas
✨ Experiment with different materials, techniques, and artistic styles
🔍 Study artists and creative inspiration connected to each month's theme
📐 Explore composition, proportion, value, color theory, texture, and more
🧠 Practice creative problem-solving and making intentional artistic choices
🌈 Build confidence in developing their own artistic voice

Projects will be open-ended enough to allow for individuality, while still providing strong instruction and artistic direction.

This is a class for teens who are ready to slow down, challenge themselves, take creative risks, and grow as artists.

Every month brings a new theme. Every project is an opportunity to go deeper.

This is where creativity becomes craftsmanship, ideas become artwork, and young artists begin to discover their own artistic voice.
